Rollback any VMware Patch

Hi,

I am about to install patch on one host having ESXI 6.5 version. I know both update manager and command line option to install/upgrade patch. I also know that VMware recommend to upgrade the patch instead of installing the patch.

My Question is that how I we can rollback the recently upgraded patch ?

Hi!

When you install\upgrade anything on ESXi host all changes go to a new bootbank. And you previous version stores in altbootbank.

To rollback you just need to boot ESXi from altbootbank

You can rollback Build version by using below setup on esxi host .

In the console screen of the ESXi host, press Ctrl+Alt+F2 to see the Direct Console User Interface (DCUI) screen.

1. Press F12 to view the shutdown options for the ESXi host.
2. Press F11 to reboot.
3. When the Hypervisor progress bar starts loading, press Shift+R. ...
4. Press Y to roll back the build.
5. Press Enter to boot.
