Reports when Installation is done via SCCM tool

When the installation is done via SCCM tool, Is there any way to report back to the admin if something fails?

Note: Installer is created using Bitrock InstallBuilder.

Hi RamyaNagaraj09,

The log files can be viewed with a tool called CMTrace tool located in the path : <SCCM setup DVD>SMSSETUP/TOOLS. The client logs are located in the path :  %WINDIR%System32/CCM/Logs folder. For 64 Bit Operating System :  %WINDIR%SysWOW64CCMLogs. The SCCM server log files are located in the: <INSTALL_PATH>Logs or SMS_CCMLogs folder.

But for more information it is always better to check the logs on the client.

Hi RamyaNagaraj09,

If the installation fails you can definitely report back to the admin to find out the cause of the failure.

You can also refer to the following guide page34 to find out the generic issues for the vmware tools installation failure when attempted from sccm tools.

Hi sudeshnas- Thanks for you reply! Does the SCCM get the details of the client machine where installation has failed?

Also to debug further, should we check logs within the client system ?

OK, let me be more specific in my question:

What VMware products or components are you deploying in this way?

Hi RamyaNagaraj09,

From vmware's perspective I am not sure about any other application created by the "Bitrock InstallBuilder", but vmware tools download from the vmware's official site : https://my.vmware.com/ can be installed using the SCCM utility tool.
