Hello,
after upgrading to ESXi 7, the predefined "Non-Critical Host Patches" baseline, recur for installing the updates again, and again, and again.
It means, when I install them today, the compliance check is fine for some days. Then it shows me to install 46 Patches again.
We use custom images of the vendor downloaded from VMWare portal.
VMWare support told me that the predefined baseline can't be used with custom images. We need to add vendor specific baselines.
Did this behavior changed with ESXi 7?
Regards Andreas
hi,
vSphere 7 introduced Lifecycle manager (earlier Update Manger) which has option to choose image instead of Baseline.. Please check docs for more info

Hello,
thanks for the reply. I already read this document.
But this doesn't fit to my question...
We have single used ESXi 7 Host (no cluster, no HA,...) which are already installed with the 7.0.2 custom image from vendor.
Do I need to add custom update baseline for installing future patches? Or can I just use the predefined baselines?
(We also don't have any vendor extensions)
Thanks
Thank you for your post on VMware Communities.
Just pre-defined Critical Host Patches & Non-Critical Host Patches should suffice.
For vendor specific add-ons please refer to Hardware Support Manager section of the below URL:
