Processor considerations for new vSphere 5 environment

I am in the process of writing up a proposal for a new (small) vSphere 5 environment for my orgization.  We will be starting small but want the ability to grow the environment.  We will likely start with a "kit" like the Essentials Plus Kit or Standard Acceleration Kit.  I have three of what I would call decent servers on hand from another project that is no longer happening.  All three are all HP DL 380 G6 servers with dual X5550 4 core processors.  From the bit of research I have done it looks like I can no longer get additional HP DL 380s with the X5550 processor. So any future hardware nodes that I want to add to this environment would likely have  six core X5650 processors.  Does anyone know if mixing processors would be supported?  I don't see us using FT, but know we would want full vMotion capabilities.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

This should work by configuring an EVC enabled cluster for the hosts. See http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1003212
