Perf Charts service experienced and internal error.

Besides the poor grammar, this error does nothing to help identify a way to resolve it. When I select the Performance tab on any running Virtual Machine on my newly installed vSphere Server, I get this error. I searched the KB, but did not find anything. If I click on the Advanced link, I do get some charting, but the Overview link gives this error.

KB 1008329 may help.

Thanks for the KB article, but I have read those and have tried to find some solution from them. Most of that stuff changed in vSphere. I do have TCP/IP inabled in SQL Express.

As a new VTSP, I only get two SR's and I don;t want to use them for a problem displaying a web page. I'd hope to get this solved on this forum

I experienced this issue upon upgrading from VC 2.5 U4 to VC 4. For me, the fix was very simple. The "HTTP SSL" service was set to disabled on my vCenter server for some reason. I simply enabled this service and set it to automatic. Once this was taken care of I could then start the "VMware vCenter Collector" and "VMware vCenter Collector Provider" services and everything worked fine on the Performance Overview pages.

Hi,

for me it was the SQL Server Browser service that wasn't running on the vCenter server - we are just running the local DB. HTTP SSL service is not running.

i tried all of these in a lab of 5 esx servers and enabling sql browser worked for 2 of them.

on the other 3, even with sql browser started & http ssl started & restart of webservices it didn't work.

however a restart of the sql server service brought it up straight away.

so then i decided to stop the other services to test if they are really needed. the overview charts continued to function with sql browser stopped & disabled and http ssl stopped, even after a webservices restart & vsphere client restart.

I also got the same problem fixed by following steps in post bellow:

http://communities.vmware.com/message/1267900#126790 .

I just omited 2.5 version stuff. I did not do any upgrades from earlier versions.

Think it was the TCP/IP "ENABLE - YES" option in SQL Config Manager and Chenging SQL Browser service to Auto, since these were the only different settings that I noticed.

I had the same error in Vsphere 4, VC server 4.0

I took advantage of suggestions in article:

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=101281...

The error I found in stats.log was:

Caused by: org.apache.tomcat.dbcp.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create PoolableConnectionFactory (Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITY\ANONYMOUS LOGON'.)

I fixed the problem adding in VC to the group

SQLServer2005MSSQLUser$VC$SQLEXP_VIM

the user ANONYMOUS LOGON

Hope this can help
