We had an issue when upgrading our hardware level from version 4 to 7 when the vms were configured with MS windows load balancing (NLB), where all the network configuration was deleted and not restored.
We used the following method as a work around, it may help you but like everything make sure you test it in your development environment first.
Step | Action | Completed |
Step 1: | Take a note of the IP, DNS and WINS entries for NLB NIC
Step 2: | Remove the server from the NLB cluster, first drain stop the server then remove host from the cluster
Step 3: | Upgrade tools and Hardware version using Update Manager as per instructions above
Step 4: | All NICS should be present as expected. View the nics using the detailed view and record the device name for all connections
Step 5: | Add the host back to the NLB cluster in an inactive state using NLB manager. This process will rename the NLB nic to Local Area Connection #. Configure the NLB IP address and subnet mask in NLB manager. When prompted select the correct nic identified in step 4
Step 6: | Rename the nic to NLB configure the correct IP details recorded in step 1 including DNS, WINS and NetBIOS settings
Step 7: | Use NLB manager to configure the server as active in the cluster then reboot the server
Kind regard
