Linked Mode for vCenters all over the Globe

I'm after splitting my vCenters regionally and then using Linked Mode.  For example linking Australia, Hong Kong & China  for APAC etc and so on - they are all in differing time zones.

This line has me stumped though "All vCenter Server instances must have network time synchronization. The vCenter Server installer validates that the machine clocks are not more than 5 minutes apart."  Page 38 in http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vsphere4/r41/vsp_41_dc_admin_guide.pdf

So does that mean Linked Mode is out the window.....

Please can someone advise or clarify

Hello Zippy

I think that the document means that you need the same NTP server for all vCenter. That´s my opinion.

Usually vCenter Servers are domain member.

How are they related with the different AD DC?

Timezone information is included in NTP notifications - so although the time in the different zones is different - the relative time remains consistent.

As such - no problems with Linked Mode accross locations.

One day I will virtualise myself . . .
