Installation of VNware vsphere 5.5 fails - does not recognize existing 1Gib NICs

I've installed two 1Gib NICs and the installation of vSphere 5.5 does not recognize them. It does not provide a way to install network drivers.

I need help.

Thanks.

Hi Mark,

You're right, there is no way to load a driver as part of the installer. Instead you must inject the driver into the install disc as described in the following KB article.

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=200520... to a new ESXi installation

You may also find that your manufacturer (e.g. Dell, HP) provides customised install media.

Hope that helps.

check if your NIC's are supported by vmware on the HCL list

http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php

if not you will have to go on the website of that NIC manufacturer and see if there is any support for vmware
