Install on HP ML150 G6

I need to buy several servers to use on remote locations, I'm going to install only 2 guest: linux as Firewall + Proxy; and 1 Windows only as Active Directory Controller, so performance is not much an issue.

Our provider is offering us HP ML150 G6 with 2 disks SATA or SAS (RAID 1), and my question is if it has any problems with ESXi 4.0, specially with de Storage Controller HP Smart Array P410 w/Zero Memory.

Other options is an HP ML350 G6 with 2 disk SATA or SAS (RAID1), with HP Smart Array P410i w/256 Mb. This one cost almost double the ML150.

Thanks for all the help,

Valentin

P.S: Sorry for my English

The ML150 is only on the HCL for ESX 4 not ESXi

The ML350 is on the HCL for both ESX and ESXi

If you do decide to go with the ML150 and use ESX rather than ESXi, I would recommend upgrading the storage controller to include the 256MB / 512MB BBWC

I checked the HCL before posting. I thought perhaps someone has tested this hardware environment. For example, I'm using ESXi with HP DL120 (not in HCL) and it works, but won't recognize any RAID configuration.

Thanks anyway.
