How to Install vSphere4 (ESX4) using HP RDP 3.80 / Altiris Deployment Server 6.9

Even with a great deal of help from John Braner through various posts/PM and Mike La Spina's Blog () I was not able to get my HP RDP 3.80 server to deploy vSphere 4. Thanks for getting me as far as you did guys.

When I was about to throw in the towel. I found that HP released an ESX supplement for HP RDP 3.83.

This supplement will not install on 3.80 and you can not import the jobs. Since I don't own the RDP server and that team does not want to upgrade/patch. I was forced to look for a work around.

I've built up a 3.83 server on a VM and manually extracted the file/job contents into my exisiting 3.80 server. And wala I'm deploying vSphere using HP RDP 3.80

I've attached a work instruction with screen shots and the contents of the new default.cfg and vmesx40.sh files needed. You'll also find the default.cfg files and vmesx40.sh files. Be sure to remove the .txt

Hope this helps
