How do I upgrade the firmeware on qlogic hba in esx 4

I need to upgrade the firmeware on my qlogic adapters running under esx 4.0. Can i do this from update manager or do I need to use the sansurfer cli ?

VUM support only VMware patches, not firmware patches.

Use SANSurfer (but you need also to install it on ESX) or better, build a floppy with the DOS upgrade tool.

Usually I use the DOS procedure (from floppy or from USB stick).

On vSphere 4.0 (with fill ESX) I've tried also the SANSurfer way and it works... Follow installation procedures specific for ESX.

Remember to put your host in maintenance mode (to avoid problems) and to reboot it after the firmware upgrade.
