Fresh install of vcenter 5.1 keeps failing to install

Hi all,

I hope some can help.

When install vcenter 5.1 on windows 2008 r2 servicepack 1, it failes to install sso with error message "error 29115 cannot authenticated db"

When i manual install msssql express, and make sure that mixed authentications is enabled and port 1433 is enabled, i get at point an error messages that msi installer craches, and install failes with more errors:

I have done clean install of windows without suc6, now going to try fresh install without updates.

SOme some sugestions?

A fresh install without update didn't help 😞

Read the vSphere 5.1 Installation and Setup guide. It'll tell you that you need complete network and DNS configuration setup and working before you install vCenter Server 5.1. You need to make sure DNS works forwards and backwards and that the Windows host that you're working on is capable of pinging and doing nslookups on itself. Verify all of that and then try again.

the sha-1 hash checks out of the iso see:

Is this a correct version , this the only one i can download from vmware

The install didn't finsish and rolls back, so these link don't help.

i think i found the problem , vsphere doesn't like windows 2008 r2 Datacenter edition, with standard edition it seem to work

Clean install on R2 standard. Fails every time.

And yes the iusue was, teh datacenter edition.

So don't install on windows 2008 r2 datacenter edtion but under standard edition.
