Firmware or drivers needed before or after the upgrading process

Hi,

We are going to  upgrade our vCenter from V 4 to V 5 AND vSphere from ESX 4 to ESXi5 and we need to know what are the latest firmware or drivers that should be installed before or after the upgrading process?

Are there any specific version should be installed?

Servers Details

  • Our ESX Servers are running on BL 490 G6 with Intel Xeon x5570
  • Our vCentre is running on BL 460 G6

Thanks

Regards,

Naeema

I would suggest that you check the HCL for Vmware first to see the recommendations for your hardware before you upgrade. Find your hardware and it will list (usually) the firmware or bios versions which have been tested.

Its at www.vmware.com/go/hcl

The hardware is on the HCL so you should be good without any updates required, you'll need to check any add-on cards though that you may have.
