Failed to upgrade ESX 4.0 to 4.1

Hello,

I am trying to upgrade ESX 4.0 to 4.1 using vCenter Update Manager. I was trying to create baseline with the following steps:  choose "upload upgrade files" from the dropdown box and next browse .ios and .zip file from the local drive. After sometime its give an error: Failed to import upgrade.

Could anyone please assist me on resolve this issue.

Have you upgrad also VUM to version 4.1?

you are using vCenter 4.1 as well as VUM 4.1.  Plus, trying to upload one or the other, not the zip and the ISO?

you will need to upgrade to vCenter and VUM 4.1 in order for this to work.  Also, make sure all your plug-ins are current too.

vCenter 4.0 cannot manage a 4.1 host.  So, even if you could get to baselline to work, you wouldn't be able t manage your new 4.1 host.

Upgrade path should always be

1.  vCenter (and it's modules)

2.  ESX(i)

3. VMware Tools

4. vHardware
