Hello,
I have an issue with the vsphere authentication proxy component in my lab environment.
The autodeploy and the authentication proxy components are installed on a separate (w2k8r2) server then the vcenter server.
Hotfix KB981506 is also installed
The autodeploy component works without any issue but the authentication proxy component does not work.
I followed the installation and configuration instructions
http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/index.jsp?topic=/com.vmware.vsphere.install.doc_50/GUID-EA920335-2...
http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/index.jsp?topic=/com.vmware.vsphere.security.doc_50/GUID-31D688AF-...
The cam user was also been created in the active directory during installation process
I also checked Configuring vCenter Server Support Tools to work in a Wide Area Network
http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=200437...
When I run the plugin manager I receive the following error occures:
Translation from german:
while downloading the script plugin from http://ip:51914/extension.xml the following error occured:
the Server was not able to interpret the client request(the remotserver made an error 404 not found
When I try to call the url http://ip:51914/extension.xml via browser I receive the message that the url was not found
telnet on port 51914 and 51915 works
I suppose that there is maby a permission issue
The configuration files are located under C:\ProgramData\VMware\vSphere Authentication Proxy and seem to be ok
No errors in the log folder. cam.log is empty and camadapter.log has a few lines (monitor is initialized and stared etc.)
I also uninstalled the vpshere authentication proxy server a few times. The uninstall procedure seems to work well because all files
are cleaned up. The cam user was also automatically deleted from active directory
Thanks for helping.

Andreas

Check out this link, I had exactly the same problem and managed to solve it eventually: http://virtualkenneth.com/2012/11/16/unable-to-enable-the-vsphere-authentication-proxy-plug-in/
Hi Kenneth,
thanks for this link. Great posting. This would solve my problem for sure. I will check this later.
