I'm trying to update a ESXi Host from 6.0 to 6.7U1, but I get the following error:
Unsupported devices [4040:0100 103c:705b] [4040:0100 103c:705b] found on the host.
When I looked up the compatibility matrix, the device is supported on 6.7U1
Not quite sure where to go from here. Any pointers would be really appreciated!
PS: My vCenter (6.7U3) is installed in this host.
Hi hwinter,
Thank you for the quick response and sharing the requested details.
The Hardware Model: "SUN FIRE X4270 M3", according to the vendor is only compatible till 6.0U3. Ref -> VMware Compatibility Guide - System Search & VMware Compatibility Guide - System Search .
Hence Update Manager has marked the 6.7U1 upgrade baseline as Incompatible.

What device or devices?
Hi hwinter,
Thank you for choosing VMware community.
From the error I see that the Upgrade baseline is marked as "incompatible". The ID's you shared " in the snippet is pointing to a HP Network Card, Model: NC522SFP, which appears to be compatible with 6.7U1 as per VMware Compatibility Guide - I/O Device Search .
To isolate the issue please provide Hardware Model of the ESXi. (Login to vCenter -> Hosts and Clusters -> Select the ESXi -> Summary Page -> Hardware Model).

That was a quick answer, thanks hkk307. Does that mean that I can't upgrade to 6.7 because my card is compatible only on 6.7U1 and the server only on 6.7U3?
I tried both unsuccesfully. Is there a work around? As I understand, I can't migrate to 6.5 either, well, at least not via upgrade manager.
Oh wow, I just realized the server is only compatible to 6.0 U3. I didn't even consider the host wasn't compatible.
Thanks hkk307 I guess that explains it.
hwinter glad to be of help.
