I'm installing ESX4 on another server. This one has one Xeon quad-core E5405 processor and an Areca arc-1680 SATA/SAS storage controller (Supported). I'm unclear based on the system manufacturer (Aberdeen) whether the system itself is fully-supported under 4.0, but other similar systems are certified under 3.5.
When I attempt the install, I'm able to add the storage driver for the Areca controller, and get all the way to the end of the setup question. It partitions the drive and then fails with the following error:
"Errno 1 Operation Not Permitted /mnt/sysimage/boot"
I bought the three-pack of 4.0, so I'm not entitled to download 3.5 to see if that would work, although maybe I can get customer service to help me with that.
Suggestions?
