Edit VM Guest error

added four esx 3.5 hosts to vCenter 4.1

When I try to edit any VM Guests I am receiving this error

Call "EnvironmentBrowser.QueryConfigTarget" for object "envbrowser-97" on vCenter Server "server name"

Any ideas?

It seems the Esx Hosts are not registered correctly in vCenter. Try to restart the services in the following sequence

service mgmt-vmware restart

service vmware-vpxa restart and vcenter service in vCenter server.

If not disconnect the hosts from vCenter and readd it. Cheers!

some more info Smiley Happy

ESX host = 3.5 (no updates installed)

Original VirtualCenter server = 2.5

New VirtualCenter server= 4.1

1) disconnected the ESX server from Vcenter2.5

2) Manual removed the VPXA client from the ESX

3) Added the ESX server to Vcenter 4.1

Everything is working except edit of existing VM's and creating new VM's on the ESX3.5 servers

Creating and editing of VM's on a new and added ESX 4.1 server is working perfectly.

if using iSCSI set the vcenter to verbose or higher level of logging. edit vm. take a look at the log. In my instance it would complain about duplicate iSCSI.

Funny part is that generating a new one would not resolve the problem. I had to upgrade all my hosts anyway and the problem is went away.
