ESXi 5.0 Client install failure

When I access a Host that requires me to upgrade the client on my desktop (Win 7 64bit) I get this error, my current client is 4.1.0

Error 1406 Could not write value ProductLanguage to key \SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMWare Virtual Infrastructure Client. Verify you have sufficent acces to that key

Any ideas? I am on as administrator on the local machine

Hi,

This issue may occur if you do not have sufficient permissions to modify sections of the registry. These permissions are required to install a client. This issue occurs when the permission for the Everyone group of the \SOFTWARE registry subkey is not set to Full Control.

to do this:

  1. In Registry Editor, right-click HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software, and then click Permissions.
  2. Click Add, type Everyone, and then click OK.
  3. Under Group or user names, click Everyone.
  4. Under Permissions, click to select Full Control in the Allow column, and then click OK.
