ESXi 4.1 upgrade and 32-bit DSN

We are working on a plan to upgrade our existing 4.0 U2 vSphere to 4.1 and we have a question regarding the current DSN we have under vCenter now. The DSN we have were created as 32-bit but the OS is 2008 SP2 64-bit and I remember needing to create them (vCenter database and Update Manager database) as 32-bit for vCenter 4.0. We plan on doing a in-place upgrade of 4.0 U2 to 4.1 but we can't seem to figure out if we still need to manually create another DSN entry for the vCenter database under 64-bit or will the upgrade process automatically create that from the 32-bit one. We know that Update Manager DSN still needs to be 32-bit so that probably won't change. We ran the pre-upgrade check utility and it came back clean but it doesn't seem to really check the DSN type. Anyone done this upgrade senario?

Thanks in advance.

Hello.

We plan on doing a in-place upgrade of 4.0 U2 to 4.1 but we can't seem to figure out if we still need to manually create another DSN entry for the vCenter database under 64-bit or will the upgrade process automatically create that from the 32-bit one.

You will need to manually create a new 64-bit DSN for vCenter.

Good Luck!
