Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could provide the following info:
1. Is an Upgrade from ESX 3.01 and VIC 2.01 supported?
2. Is there any sort of whitepaper that will provide an approach and instruction on hwo to do this?
3. Can you do an in place upgrade of 3.01? If I understand correctly I would have to upgrade the vic client but that would not allow me to vmotion from one esx 3.01 server to other anymore....Im just looking for the best path to do this.
Thank for any help anyone could provide.
Patrick
Lots of info here.
Upgrade paths are outlined very while in the core vSphere documentation on the Support part of VMware's web site.
Go to the Support tab, select 'Access Product documentation', select 'vSphere', Select one of the 3 editions. Then look at the 'VMware vSphere Compatibility Matrixes' and the 'Upgrade Guide' on that part of the website.
Yes there is a direct upgrade path for VC 2.0.1 and ESX 3.0.1
Hello,
Moved to vSphere upgrade and install forum.
Personally with this large a jump I often reinstall. But first I VMotion and backup my systems.
