Dell PE R610 and vsphere 4.1 essentials plus

Hi All,

Am I missing something obvious here.

I have 2 Dell PE R610s which I am trying to install vsphere 4.1 essentials plus on to, I have purchased the license, but they will not boot from the CD/DVD. I downloaded the software from the VMWARE site and copied it to CD and DVD, but They will not boot from it. Intrestingly though I have an ESXi 4.0 cd which they do from no problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Both ways you tried won't work.

In your CD burning application you should find s.th. like "Burn Image" form an ISO.

First step would be to verify the MD5 check sum of the downloaded ISO file.

Second step, try to boot form the CD on any other PC/Server to verify it's bootable at all.

... and copied it to CD and DVD ...

Please don't mind me asking. How did you copy it to the CD/DVD? Did you burn the ISO as a file or did you burn it as an image?

Well I have copied the ISO straight on to disc and I have also mounted the ISO image and copied the files to disc, still no joy.

put that disk in your desktop. Do you see the .iso on that disk? If yes that's the problem.

Use a burning software and use the option "burn iso".
