Converting HDD.

Hello,

I have downlaod HDD that has extention .vhd which is the Microsoft VM HDD formate. I had conveted it to VMware HDD formate .vmdk.

But i can not use it in VMware products because it doese not have the configuration file, or boot file.

So how can I get those files to boot my VM in VMware workstation.

Thanks and Best regards,

The VMware configuration file or .vmx file can only be obtained by creating a new Virtual machin.

...I believe you are trying to mount this hard drive on a Guest server or want this as a system itself. If you want to use it as a Guest VM ....you have  to create a new VM on VMware workstation and during the process you have to select the option ...use an existing disk and point to the .vmdk you have

The system should come up normally after the new VM creation

You can also test the .vmdk by mounting it to an existing Virtual machine which will help you to know if the disk status id fine
