I realize that my question can sound strange.
Before udating a vCenter I would like to perform a test in a lab environment, just to see what happens and to get answers to possible questions.
So my idea is cloning the current vCenter, reconfiguring the cloned vCenterso that it does not communicate with any ESXi node, power up the cloned vCenter and launch the update from the CD.
Once familiar with the procedure I will perform it on the real vCenter.
Is there any issue to consider before attempting to clone my vCenter?
Can I cause any problem to my vSphere infrastructure while attempring to clone the vCenter?
Should I rather restore it from a backup?
Regards
marius
You can make clone of the vCenter, but when you isolate it, it will connect to DataBase if it is from external and vCenter service will not start.
you can update the vCenter server but how will you test the updated vCenter?
