Cannot install VMTools from hard disk

I tried installing it from the CD and have read the messages on this. I then downloaded the latest version and VMWare appears to hang on installing VMWare Tools. At least if I go back to the VM tab it has been saying "Cancel" for about 15 minutes. This may have something to do with a message that kbdclass.sys is corrupt. This from Windows installation....

It finally ended but still says it's not installed. How do you tell if it's installed? Anyway I am now in installing windows so maybe the message is wrong.

You can se if they are installed in the VM Summary Page

cant find vm summary page.

Also got a weird message saying vmtools wasn't installed within the vm, whatever that means.

oh my god you were big. i was born in quebec and andre the giant scared the hoots out of me. i had nightmares. of course now i will have nightmares about vmware.
