CPU compatibility problem in vsphere migration

Hello,

I'm currently in process to renew my ESX cluster with new servers running ESX4 (the old servers are running ESX3.5)

I'm facing a quite annoying issue when I try to migrate my VMs from the old server to the new one. This is refused due to this:

"Host CPU is incompatible wit the virtual machine requirements as CPUID level 0x1 reguister 'ecx'"

Mismatch detected for this features SSE4.1

I had a look to the kb article 1993 relating those issues, but before going into troubles I would like to get the opinion of the experts around.

the old servers CPUs are Xeon X5450 and the new ones are Xeon E7340

Is there any chance for me to proceed to this migration without shutting down the VMs and with a low risk of failure? what would you advise me to do this properly?

Thanks

To enable EVC feature without downtime, see:

For the right EVC baseline to use, check vCenter hint during the EVC setup.
