Auto deploy hangs at pxe boot

Has anyone seen this error before?  Autodeploy hangs during the boot process.  It loads iPXE, retrieves the URL https://my.autodeploy.server:6501/vmw/rbd/tramp.  It hangs and eventuall fails while attempting to post to /vmw/rbd/host-register?bootmac=${mac}

I've rebooted the autodeploy server. Running vmware vsphere auto deploy v5.1.0.4058 build 774808.  My next step is to upgrade auto deploy to the latest.

Did you use stateless-cache option (Set it in host profile). this would have created partition to your disk, clear them and try it.

Another chance could be, uploaded image to autodeploy would have corrupted.  Upload the image once again with different image profile name and attach to host and try to boot the stateless once again.

Yes there is an image assigned to it.

This issue may occur due to a prior partition table present in the local datastore.

To resolve this issue, use a Linux boot CD of your choice. Format the local datastore and create a partition table.

After recreating the partition table, retry the ESXi 5.x installation.

Thank you, unassigning the deploy rules and re-applying a new image did the trick. FWIW, I'm using the Auto Deploy GUI. It has worked very well so far. I like it better than managing Auto Deploy via PowerCLI.

Thank You mmarseglia1 . I have tried to configure the auto deploy server using PowerCli commands, But I was facing the same issue you have mentioned. After installing Auto deploy GUI, I configured the Auto Deploy server / PXE booting environment successfully. Thanks a Lot Smiley Happy

Thanks,

Venkat
