4.0 ESX to 4.1 ESXi Upgrade. Unable to vMotion

I have a HA cluster with 2 hosts. I upgraded 1 hosts while the other ran the machines. Now when I try to move the machines from the 4.0 host to the 4.1 I receive the error "The operation is not allowed in the current state" and there are 2 powered off machines on the new host showing as inaccesible.

Just to make sure, did you upgrade vCenter Server to v4.1 prior to the host upgrade?

Yes. vCenter is 4.1, one host is ESXi 4.1 (Build 260247) and the other is ESX 4, patched current (Build 261974)

disconnect/remove host from vCenter, then add host back.

Removed the new host and added it again and still get the same error at 10%.

I even rebooted the VC server just to be safe.

You wrote:

Is this just when you connect to vCenter Server or also when you connect to the host directly?

Did you verify the DNS resolution from and to the ESXi host is ok?

Are the virtual machines part of FT (fault tolerance) pair? If so, vmotion to 4.1 is probably breaking it (4.0 and 4.1 may not be compatible wrt FT). Try disabling FT and then vmotion.
