vmware esxi multi writer Centos 7

Hello!

I have a vmware esxi 6.5 I followed the procedure https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=10341...

I have two VMs with Centos 7 I would like to share the same disk actively / active. Has anyone ever made it work? I am using ext4 as a filesystem.

Tanks!!

Hi MarcioGuima,

No, it won't work for ext4.

There are two scenarios, where you can share the same disk between two VMs:

  1. Active/passive on non-clustered file system (like ext4 or NTFS)
  2. Active/active on a clustered file system (like GPFS)

If two servers try to use the same disk with a non-clustered file system simultaneously it will cause data corruption.
