Hi,

No, API is a term that programmers use for standard library fuctionality and programming interfaces.

Or as it is full out Application Programming Interface

Hope this helps,

So basically Data Recovery Manager is just an API tapping into vCenter? which is why it falls under vStorage APIs is there any other known vStorage APIs or just DRM for now?

vDR hooks into vSphere API which is exposed through both individual ESX(i) and vCenter and vDR requires vSphere.

vDR is suppose to be utilizing the vStorage APIs which from what I understand today (still not clear since no one will give an official word) is really just the vSphere API + VDDK at least for generation1 of vStorage APIs. I don't know if there is another non-public API doc set that exposes specific things in the vStorage layer to 3rd party vendors who potentially could develop their own application and solutions around specific storage arrays/etc.
