vCenter OVF wont thin provision on NFS.

I have 1 ESXi5 host that I want to roll out vCenter Server Appliance onto. The ESXi5 host has only 1 NFS store on it. When I deploy the OVF I go through the usual config but when I get to disk all the options are grayed out so I cannot select thin provisioning. I have also noticed this that when creating a VM I cannot choose thin either I have to make a thick disk then remove it and add a thin disk after.

Is this a limitation of the NFS share (its not a NAS or anything like that, its a NFS share hosted on WHS2011) or a issue with ESXi5?

Hello - this seems to be an expected behaviour. With NFS, the allocation policy of the virtual disks is determined by the NFS server itself which in most cases is Thin Provisioned. I would suggest you to check the format of the newly created virtual machine disks.

If the new VM disks are defaulting to Thin-Provisioned then the issue might be with the OVF Import tool. Let us know how it goes..
