re-size fibre channel disk

Hello,

I have a FC SAN (HP MSA2312FC) attached to our ESXi 4.1 cluster with 545 GB provisioned. I wish to add an enclosure and expand RAID to higher capacity. I wish to know if I can re-scan datastore and additional volumes pops-up without poweroff VM's stored on volume.

Would appreciate any help.

Addinig additional to your FC SAN should be accessible to your enironment as long as it is zoned correctly =

This should work without issues. Once the work on the storage is done (adding the new enclosure and expanding the RAID/disk group) you just need to create a new LUN and present it to the ESXi host. After this, a rescan should discover the new LUN and you can create a VMFS datastore on it or use it as a RDM. You can also increase the size of the existing LUN (max. 2 TB minus 512 Bytes) and then grow the existing datastore.

Make sure that your lun offset is set to ensure the best performance.
