monitoring Intel SSDs from ESXi

Greetings,

Recently inherited a couple smaller ESXi 8 Servers, and found they are running Intel SSDs (4610's) directly off the onboard SATA controllers. No RAID. This is a bit out of my space since I'm used to larger Vmware installs with with either central SAN storage, or pretty large dedicated storage controllers.

I've found those same SSDs to be super reliable on baremetal minus any type of RAID, and I can kind of see the previous admin's point of avoiding the dreadful Dell 'somes with server' lowball RAID offerings. At a minimum I would like to get some kind of direct monitoring going with the Intel SSDs. Intel has some VIB packages available for VMware on their site, but would like to see if anybody has used them and if it's worth the time.

@wseaton,

The hardware status for these devices would be indicated on the management interface of the server itself e.g iDRAC, iLO, etc. Also, the sensors should be populated on the ESXI side if you check on the Hardware tab.

Would that be what you are looking for?
