  • 1.  iSCSI port binding - two iscsi subnets on one vswitch

    Hello,

Is below scenario supported regarding iSCSI software port binding (ESXi 6.x)?

Two iSCSI storage devices (2 controllers each) in two different subnets: 192.168.10.x and 192.168.20.x (mask 255.255.255.0).

Host ESXi with one iSCSI vSwitch.

Four vmkernel portgroups: two in 192.168.10.x subnet and two in 192.168.20.x subnet.

There is an ISCSI software port binding configured for each vmkernel port.

Please note, that this scenario is little bit different from examples on VMware KB: Considerations for using software iSCSI port binding in ESX/ESXi

That won't work this way. iSCSI port binding requires a one-to-one relationship between vmkernel ports and vmnics.

    From https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2045040

To set up a teaming policy that is compatible with iSCSI port binding you need 2 or more vmkernel ports in the vSwitch and an equivalent amount of physical adapters to bind them to. ...
