iSCSI Starwind datastore to multiple ESX Host

Hi,

For now my setup is this :

3 ESX 4.1 Host and Windows 2003 vCenter which has Starwind installed on it with 2 target created on it.

The 2 Starwind target on connected to on host and used for 1 datastore (Local disk and Extended with the 2 target ).

Now I want the 2 other host to use the same datastore but I can't manage to get it to work... I can see the targets in the storage adapter but if i do a rescan or add storage I got nothing!

Please help me!

Here's some screens

Hello and welcome to the forums.

Note: This discussion was moved from the Virtual Machine & Guest OS community to the VMware vSphere Storage community.

Are you using Static Discovery on this host?  If so, did you add the new targets?

Good Luck!

Dynamic to my Windows 2003 server (which host the Starwind target).

The static Discovery was made by himself after I add the Dynamic Discovery.

Try RESCAN ALL a couple more times from the Storage section, adn they should show up.  They shouldn't show up using the Add Storage option, as they are already VMFS volumes.

There are a handful of things you can check, detailed in this KB article:

http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=1016222&sl...

Also check the vmkernel log to see if the second and third systems think the LUNs are snapshots and need resignaturing.

Are your targets configured to allow multiple different initiators to attach? e.g., On our Equallogics, I have to check the box that says "Allow simultaneous connections from initiators with different IQN names"

This doesn't address your issue but does point to an issue with your setup. You really should not have any other application or service running on your storage server especially your vCenter Server.

I would start over again. Either move your vCenter server to another location or install the Starwind software on another server.

Basic troubleshooting. http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1008083
