In ESX Server 4,

Is the Service Console port necessary for vSwitch used for the connection to iSCSI?

Without the service console how can you use the GUI mgmt ?

You can build a vSwitch,which only includes a vmkernel port. You can use it to connecte your iSCSI strorage.

For the current version it is not required.

as I learned, this Service Console no need to enable iSCSI port 3260 in vSphere;

prior to vSphere, Service Console port plays a part in iSCSI targets discovery,

esxcfg-firewall -e swISCSIClient
