Hi
I've been testing esxi for some time on som old gaming hw.
But now i got an supermicro server to play with. This server has an 3ware-9550sx raid controller.
I've googled for several day, tried many guides. But nothing helps me.
First I tried esxi 3.5, where i found an .iso file with 3w-9xxxx drivers installed. But didnt help.
Now I'm using esxi 4.0.0., where I found the driver within vmware's download center.
This was an .iso file too. I downloaded it over to the host, got the host in "maintenance mode" an execudet this command:
esxupdate --bundle=<name of bundled zip> update
After an reboot, everything was the same.
In simple I have this:
So if I'm correct, I should replace 1004 with 1003 ? But after an reboot everything is the same again....
How can I get this work ??
Please someone
I found couple of articles to get this controller to work with ESXi 4.0, can you see if these instructions are helpful:
http://kb.lsi.com/KnowledgebaseArticle15548.aspx
http://www.robindiederen.nl/how-to-modify-vmware-esxi-3ware-raid-drivers.html
There is also a call out recommendation to update to ESXi 4.0u1 (see point 5)...
I've tried everything I can think of.
Maybe I'm doing it wrong, or I'm stupid :smileysilly:
I would be very happy if someone could fix an .iso file which included the drivers fro 3ware 9550SX. With an pci ID 1003
For VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5 or VMware-VMvisor-Installer-4.1.0.update1.
