VMware Esxi 6 can't create datastore local disk not recognized?

I have a dell vrtx machine with SPERC 8 Controller. I installed Esxi 6 from Dell's site and the storage adapter shows Shared PERC 8 Mini in the Storage Adapters list as vmhba1 in Vsphere Client. When I go to create a datastore as a Disk/LUN as a local SCSI disk it never shows up in the list to select Disk/LUN. I have 12 physical disks total setup as 2 Virtual drives based on the disks size and manufacturer. Even though the SPERC Controller shows up I don't see any of the storage devices. Do I need to format the disks first before they show up. What am I missing? Where do I start? Thanks for any and all help.

Solution was to go from megaraid_sas-06.805.56.00-2494585 back to an earlier version megaraid_sas-06.801.52.00-1096283 using the command

esxcli software vib install -v /tmp/scsi-megaraid-sas-06.801.52.00-1vmw.500.0.0.472560.x86_64.vib while connected by putty to the Host.   First moved the unzipped downloaded file from VMware vSphere 5: Private Cloud Computing, Server and Data Center Virtualization .

Used the app WinSCP found here http://winscp.net/  to move the file to the /tmp folder on the host. This installed the old version and removed the new one. Reboot of the Host was required after the install.

Once  Host came back up the storage was available to add to a Datastore. Hope this helps someone because I could find an number of cases with other people with the same problem but it took me some digging to finally come up with the right solution.

Site that finally lead me in the right direction. Thanks!
