VMFS RDM Mapping

When a volume is created through the EMC Snap in or any snap in on a SAN its presented as VMFS to the host correct? Then the Guest OS changes the format of the LUN to whatever its meant to be for the RDW mapping. Is this correct information? If someone could help shed some light on this i would appreciate it.

The volume that is snapped will retain its current format.  So if the volume started as VMFS, its still a VMFS when the snap is presented.

But you wouldn't represent a snap of an entire VMFS volume to a VM (in fact, ESXi wont even let you do it).
