VM perf issue with DirectPath & SAS cards

Hello everybody,

I have a perf issue on a VM.

ESX 4 update 1 on HP 380G6

I have an SAS card Adaptec 1045 presented with DirectPath too a VM, I use it to present a Autoloader: Everything is working fine at this point, the autoloader is detected, installed, functionnal.

The only problem is that the VM perf are really bad, 6 secondes to have the start menu open (win2k3 32bit) for example.

In the perfmon of the VM (from ESX) we can see a really high usage of CPU (100%) and RAM (100%)... (2 VCPU, 2 GBram).

The VM is actually alone on the ESX.

Any idea ?

have you upgraded Bios firmware on 380 G6 and enabled VT in Bios...this could be the reason for high utilization. As HP DL380 G6 has made the performance record with vsphere update 1 refer : http://blogs.vmware.com/performance/

and

vimsh -e hostsvc/hosthardware -n shows CPU flags.

On an Intel CPU where VT is disabled the edx is: edx=0000:0000:0001:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000

VT enabled: edx=0010:0000:0001:0000:0000:0000:0000:0000
