If you edit the settings of a VM, look at the hard disk, and view the type it will show if it's thin or thick provisioned.

If you need to verify this for many VMs you can also see this in the "Virtual Machines"-Tab (below Cluster, Host, Ressource Pool etc.), if you take a look at the colums "Provisioned Space" and "Used Space".
A thick VM will always have both colums equal. Of course a thin disk which is 100% used will also have a equal value
