Hi,
I am new to VMWare. We are planning to use VMWare for an critical application availability. The application is a normal VB .Net exe application. It must not get off at any point in time. We are plannig following hardware but there is some doubt about the High availability and Fault tolerance features that will be required to keep my software application always alive without loosing its curently running state.(It must not be required to restart the application).
SW Configuration
VMWare Foundation
VSphere 4.0 ADvanced
HW configuration
Two Rack Servers of Intel Xeon 55xx series. With 2 * 2 port SAS HBA cards in it.
SAS disk array with controller having SAS connectivity with 2 ports per controller. 2 Storage controllers.
Each server shall have a connectin to each controller in the disk storage.
The typical architecture is attached in the PDF file.
Whether this configuration is correct for using the Fault tolerance and High availabiility feature for critical application availability.

Kapil.
If your storage can work with both hosts simultaneously - not a problem.

Hi,
Thanks for reply. I am planning the following harware which is listed as supported hardware forr VMware. Howver I just want to be more confidant for using it on SAS for fault tolerance and high availability, Vmotion features. This is just because our local Dell people were not comfirtable for using VMWare fault tolerance on their SAS hardware.
1. HP
Rack Server - HP Proliant rack Server - DL380, SAS HBA Controller cards
Storage Box - HP StorageworksMSA2312, dual controller,
2. IBM
Rack Server - IBM x3650M2 - Intel5540 Quad core. SAS HBA controller cards
Storage Box - IBM DS3200 - Dual Controller, additional 2 SAS ports per controller

Kapil.
Can any one help me with the list of Fault tolerance - Supported SAS storage boxes?
same problem, with same hardware, an explanation ?
