Anyone using Storsimple with multiple AWS S3 accounts?
We cross-charge storage costs back to the individual departments and plan to use multiple S3 accounts to make it easier to track costs. In order to cover the cost of the data that remains on the appliance itself, we're going to also charge a monthly 'burden' cost to each department in addition to their monthly AWS charges.
I'm curious if anyone is using a similar approach to billing and how it's been working.
FYI - we've recently purchased a pair of 5020s that we're in the process of putting into production. We ran a POC using clustered ESX 4.1 vms and a sample dataset from the production data we plan to migrate to the new appliances (approx. ~2TB). The results were as advertised - +80% de-dupe/compression across VM volumes. Easy to setup and fantastic support from Storsimple.
