Storage vMotion won't move custom rom

Hi guys/gals,

We're using a custom bios rom by adding the line in the vmx:

bios440.filename = "custom.rom"

When I storage vMotion one of these machines it will timeout. When I storage vMotion, go to the target datastore and upload the custom.rom, storage vMotion will succeed. Is this just a limitation of Storage vMotion?

Using:

vCenter 4.0.0 Build 208111

ESX 4.0.0 Build 244038

I'm currently facing the same issue with the same ROM-File.

ESXi 4.1.0 874690

vCenter 4.1.0 345043

Are there any workarounds beside adding this ROM-File to all Datastores?

Apparently you can define a central repository for your custom ROMs.  See http://gregcarriger.wordpress.com/2011/10/20/vmware-oem-bios-fix/

I don't use custom ROMs but was curious what the workaround would be so I looked it up.
