Raid array recommendation

I have 2 guests and would like to know if I'm better off having  2 raid 1 mirrors or one shared raid 10 array?

when I setup physical machines I would ideally have raid 1 for os and raid 10 for data. Does the same apply for vm?  I would imagine its a little different because of resource sharing practices. Any ideas are appreciated

Hi,

what product are you using and on what hardware? Are you using local storage? You should give us some more input.

Choosing the right RAID level also depends on what your IO requirements are.

I am using the hypervisor On a HP server ml350. With local storage. IO Requirements are fairly low with SQL being the exception. Only have a few users accessing it at any given time.

Firstly you need to know the different types of raid, read the article below to understand if you dont know :

http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2010/08/raid-levels-tutorial/

Also for a recommendation, we would like to know the version of ESXi.

Type of storage that is being used.

Number of hard drives.

What are the applications that woudl be hosted on the server.

Cheers,

Nitin
