I created a few servers (virtual machine) in vCenter. I had to delete it and it looks like I don't have that storage space back. Am I missing something? Could someone please explain how to get the storage back?
well two ways... since your 'green' use the vi client - right click the vm and select "delete from disk"
As you learn more - or if your a unix/linux guy, use the console (after you unregister the vm from inventory) and you can rm -rf the directory...

Let me clarify. I had to delete one server and the disk space on the SAN didn't increase. So I started with 400GB. Setup 5 servers and was down to 80GB. I deleted a server and the storage size stayed the same. Any thoughts?
I do see it in there. What should I do?
So it sounds to me like you clicked "Remove from Inventory" and not "Delete from Disk"
"Remove from Inventory" simply "unregisters" the VM from the esx node, and removes itself from the Vi/vCenter Client
"Delete from Disk" - well thats self explanitory

Okay. So then how do I delete it from disk?
I really do appreciate your help on this. I am so green to this it isn't funny.
Thanks for your help. I am less green with Linux than I am VMWare.
another way to do so is via the datastore browser..just double click the datastore the VMDK of the deleted VM's was / were there
then delete the folder contained the VM(s) you wanted to delete.
