Problem with HP Dat 160 USB

Hi,

I have on my HP ML350 G6 ESXi 4.1 installed. The server is an HP USB DAT tape streamer. I have it ported to the virtual machine. The tape drive is recognized in Windows and Backup Exec in. If I want to run a backup the tape drive is not properly managed, and I get a message that the hardware is faulty. If I hang tepestreamer a workstation to test it works fine. What can the problem be?

Ik heb op  mijn HP ML350 G6 ESXi 4.1 geinstalleerd. In de server zit een een HP USB DAT tapestreamer. Ik heb deze geport naar de virtuele machine. De tapestreamer wordt herkend binnen windows en binnen Back Exec. Als ik een backup wil draaien wordt de tapestreamer niet goed aangestuurd en krijg ik de melding dat de hardware defect is. Als ik de tepestreamer aan een werkstation hang om te testen werkt het wel goed. Wat kan het probleem zijn?

Thanks for the response.
The problem is that a USB device and not a SCSI device.
I can not select the tape drive.

On vSphere 4.1 you can virtualized the USB device... but is quite a USB 1.1 emultation... so too slow to handle disk or tape.

I suggest to wait for vSphere 5 (where USB emulation is also 2.0 and 3.0), or put the tape on a physical machine.
