Path Design...without switch and blade

hi guys

I was reading the something about path recommendations for Vmware:

At least two HBA ports and each port must see both controllers when using SAN Switch....but the storage guys configured a IBM DS5100 Storage and a blade the way I am attaching there is Format 1 (the way storage guys configured it) and Format 2 the way I think it is according to the stated by Vmware

In general there is 2 Controllers and there is no SAN Device....

Please your opinions Format 1 or Format 2

thanks a  lot

You must have a "cross" connetion... so format 2.

Each host must see both controllers (otherwise you cannot handle controller failover).

It will need to be crossed indeed as otherwise you wouldn't have full redundancy.
