NFS mount problem

Hello,

We have (or better, a customer of ours has) an ESX4 server with local disks.

This server had also an NFS datastore mounted.

This morning, one of the worst things that can happen in a datacenter happened: due to a serious power problem everything was powered off.

When the power returned, everything started well.

Only one problem occurred: probably the NFS server started before the ESX, and so the NFS volume is now not seen (it's not critical right now)

In the vShpere client, the datastore disappeared: I cannot see it grayed in the datastore list, It disappeared completely

Moreover, if I issue the "vdf" command on the console, this is the result:

Could not open /vmfs/volumes/xxxxxx (where xxxxx is the NFS volume)

Does anybody knwow hot to fix this problem?

I've not already tried to reboot the ESX server, because there are a lot of VM's running in this moment...

Moreover, does anybody know where are stored the vmfs mount points? I've found configuration of it only in the/etc/vmware/esx.conf file...

Have a look at , p.6 . There is a situation described like yours.

Thanks for the welcome.

I've already tried to remount it with the vShpere client, but it returns me an error; probably because it's in the config file...

It can be done also through the cli?

Is your networking configuration and equipment configured/working correctly after the power outage? Can you provide more details as to which array server it happened on? What is the networking configuration that you have?

can you not re-mount the NFS datastore then re-register those VMs to the host?

In answer to your question the mount points are visible in /vmfs/volumes/. As stated above, without further details guessing at the issues is unproductive, that said, are you able to confirm network connectivity and if so can you mount the NFS store manually using the command line?
