NFS Datastore Max VM size 256 gb

Hi All,

I have mounted a 2 TB of NFS datastore to my esx host without any issue, there was no option for the block size but in this datastore I am not able to create VM of more than 256GB.

If I select VM disk size greater than 256 GB The message error not enough space on datastore is returned.

Can anybody please help me so that I can create a VM disk of 1 TB

With Regards

Ashish

Sure it's not a LUN?

NFS has no such restriction, if it does it must be on the SAN side, because block size ONLY applies to a VMFS format. Did you add it to ESX and then format it as VMFS perhaps?

Hi RParker,

Ya am sure its a NFS and have mounted it to the esx selecting the option configuration>Storage>Add Storage>Network File System...provided the server and the path

But now when I create the VM it only take 256 GB disk and not more than that and also when looked intothe properties of the datastore it shows block size as 1 MB
